Sobell Leisure Centre
Description: The works at Sobell Leisure Centre consisted of significant improvements to the reception and circulation areas, enhancing customer interactions and aiding access. A new café and seating area were created adjacent to the fitness suite and ice rink. The works were intended to enhance the entrance and exit areas of the leisure centre. The centre remained open to the public throughout the execution of the works. The project construction programme was phased to ensure uninterrupted operation, with out-of-hours working incorporated within our scope of works.

Description: Our client wished to reconfigure and enhance the current reception, create first-floor offices, and add first-floor disabled and unisex toilets. Additionally, the project aimed to increase the fitness area to provide enhanced facilities for leisure centre customers. Corrigan & Chapman were instructed to carry out refurbishment works, which included:
- New reception area including turnstile and reception desk
- Refurbishment of first-floor offices
- Creation of disabled and two unisex toilets
- Mechanical and electrical works
- New spin studio
- New flooring
- Decorations

Our client wished to refurbish the existing swimming pool changing village at the Chingford Leisure Centre. The facility is owned by the London Borough of Waltham Forest and is operated on their behalf by GLL.
Corrigan & Chapman were instructed to carry out refurbishment works. The areas included:
- The swimming pool changing village
- Male toilet area
- Female toilet area
- Disability toilet and shower area
- Male group changing room
- Female group changing room
- Swimming pool pre-cleanse shower area

Corrigan & Chapman Construction Limited were appointed to construct a fully functional trampoline facility within the existing indoor tennis court area. This included themed party rooms, toilets, changing and locker facilities.
The build comprised jumbo stud walling, elevated walkways, safety handrails, security systems, audio installation, decorations, floor coverings, drainage, and the installation of trampolines and accessories.
As a design and build contract, it was important to establish a strong working relationship between the Client, Architect, Structural Engineer, and Local Authority. The success of this collaboration was demonstrated by the Client's absolute satisfaction with the quality of design, the high specification achieved within budget, and the timely completion of the project.

The works at High Elms Golf Club consisted of the reconfiguration of the reception area to create a more open and inviting space, the provision of a new external platform lift, a new café servery reception with associated seating area, and extended spike bar seating. The project also included upgrading changing and toilet facilities for the patrons of the Golf Club and visiting members of the public.
The refurbishment works were completed in two phases with temporary works sequencing provisions to keep facilities in operation during the construction works. The scope of works included:
- Platform lift installations
- Curtain walling
- Rainscreen cladding
- Steel connections
- Extension to provide lift to the first floor
- Façade alterations
- Rebuilding the reception desk
- Floor finishes
- Mechanical and electrical installations

- Construction of a podium with sliding drawer
- Installation of a hair wash station

The London Aquatics Centre project involved the internal development of a new gymnasium in the upper welcome zone. The London Aquatics Centre is a purpose-built Olympic swimming pool facility that required further internal enhancements to incorporate different activities. The works included:
- Installation of a high-level ventilation duct above the inner entrance doors
- Closing of existing double door sets
- Blanking of the glass screens to add Sound Sorba and mirrors
- Strengthening of the floor underneath the computer floor for five pieces of gym apparatus
- Forming of two dwarf walls at either end of the upper welcome zone
- Installation of door automation
- Working on a live distribution board located within the buggy park cupboard
- Modifications to the existing lighting
- Introduction of feature lighting
- New wiring circuits for the gym equipment
- Extension of the perimeter heating system
- New floor coverings
- Minor decorations

Corrigan & Chapman Construction Limited were appointed to carry out the refurbishment of the former Walthamstow Dog Stadium to create a technologically advanced and stunning fitness facility. The entire refurbishment was carried out over 32 weeks to create an 80-station gym, studio, spin area, and male and female changing facilities. The works comprised the following:
- Installation of drainage
- Floor screeding
- New partitioning and ceilings
- Installation of electrical systems
- Installation of mechanical systems
- Installation of fire alarm systems
- New doors
- Decorations
- Flooring
- Bespoke iPad desk
- Turnstiles
- New kitchen for the staff room

Corrigan & Chapman Construction Limited were appointed to refurbish the existing leisure centre to create trampoline facilities.
The project involved the refurbishment of the sports hall to create a trampoline zone, party rooms, kitchen, spin room, and dojo room.
The entire project was carried out over 52 weeks. During this time, the centre remained open to the public, causing minimal disruption to the day-to-day operations, allowing staff and visitors to continue using the facilities.
